The information in this article applies to the following configuration(s):

  • Catalyst 8.5 or higher HDMI Audio Driver
  • Radeon™ HD 4870 series
  • Radeon™ HD 4850 series
  • Radeon™ HD 3870 series
  • Radeon™ HD 3850 series
  • Radeon™ HD 2900 series
  • Radeon™ HD 2600 series
  • Radeon™ HD 2400 series
  • Windows XP Professional SP2
  • Windows XP Home Edition SP2
  • Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2
  • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition SP2

Symptoms:
The HDMI driver will not install when using a system with Windows XP Service Pack 2 or earlier.

Solution:
Install Microsoft Hotfix (KB888111) before installing the ATI HDMI Audio driver.

This hotfix is not required for systems running Windows XP with Service Pack 3.
