AMDGPU-PRO Beta Driver 17.40 Highlights

    • Introduces initial OpenCL support for Radeon™ RX 550 graphics products. This driver is provided as a beta level support driver which should be considered "as is" and may not be supported with further updates, upgrades or bug fixes.

Installing the AMDGPU-Pro Beta Driver

Enabling Large Page Support

The syntax of this module parameter is amdgpu.vm_fragment_size=X, where the actual fragment size is 4KB * 2^X. The default is X=4, which means 64KB. To get 2MB fragments, set X=9.
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

    • Edit /etc/default/grub as root and modify GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in order to add "amdgpu.vm_fragment_size=9" (without the quotes). The line may look something like this after the change:
      GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash amdgpu.vm_fragment_size=9"
    • Update grub and reboot as root:
      update-grub;reboot

      • Resolved intermittent system instability when rendering using Blender

Known Issues

    • Flickering may occur when enabling or disabling VSync with Unigine Heaven
    • When resuming from S3, ReLive users may experience unexpected recording behavior
    • Unexpected behavior has been observed when using Eyefinity with 4 or more displays
    • Visual corruption may be observed with Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint
    • During prolonged FurMark stress runs, system may exhibit instability
    • May hang while launching Counter-Strike Go (CS GO)
    • Unexpected behavior may occur when rendering using Radeon ProRender in Maya 2017
    • When using CrossFire, the user may experience difficulties enabling and disabling ECC
    • System can exhibit unexpected behavior when enabling CrossFire from secondary GPU
    • Flickering line corruption has intermittently been observed in 3D applications using CrossFire with Eyefinity
    • The user may experience unexpected behavior creating 4x1 or 6x1 Eyefinity display configurations with 5K displays
    • Unity Engine games may stall on exit or first launch with SteamVR
    • When running Far Cry Primal for prolonged periods of time, Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) has been observed to occur
    • Unexpected behavior has been observed with complex Blender scenes such as system hanging

Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Radeon RX 550 Series Highlights

    • Fixes an issue where entering sleep or hibernate may cause the system to hang.

Known Issues

    • Radeon WattMan may fail to apply settings on some Radeon R9 390 series graphics products.
    • Radeon Settings may crash on switching Windows® user after toggling AMD CrossFire™ technology mode.
    • A small amount of apps may still experience issues with Borderless Fullscreen mode and AMD FreeSync™ technology if other applications or game launchers are running on the primary screen in the background.
    • Counter-Strike™: Global Offensive and World of Warcraft™ may experience flickering or performance issues the first time the game is launched on a system boot with AMD FreeSync™ technology enabled. Workarounds include exiting and restarting the application or task switching (alt+tab) in and out of the game to fix the issue.

Known Issues for Radeon ReLive

    • The XBOX™ DVR application may cause conflicts with Radeon ReLive, users are suggested to disable XBOX™ DVR if Radeon ReLive is experiencing issues.
    • Radeon ReLive may fail to install on AMD APU Family products or experience a system hang or failure to record when using the recording feature on AMD APU Family products.
    • Radeon ReLive may intermittently fail to work after performing task switches of applications. A work around is to disable and then enable the feature in Radeon Software.
    • Radeon ReLive may exhibit corruption in recordings when capturing Microsoft Office applications.
    • Radeon ReLive may experience recording or streaming issues when task switching using ALT+TAB.
