AMD Catalyst 15.4 Beta Driver: Grand Theft Auto V graphical corruption issues & suggested fixes

​​AMD is aware that some users are experiencing issues with GTA V with certain AMD Radeon GPU's.  AMD continues to work with Rockstar Games to address these issues. In the meantime, we have provided below, a few suggestions and workarounds.

 

MINOR GRAPHICS CORRUPTION IN SOME LOCATIONS IN THE GAME IN DIRECTX 10.1

 

  • DETAIL OF THE ISSUE
    • Graphical corruption is observed in some game locations when the game is run in DirectX 10.1 mode with MSAA and POST FX enabled.
  • WORKAROUND
    • Run the game in DirectX 11 mode as shown in the image below:

 

 

GRAPHICS CORRUPTION OBSERVED AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THE SCREEN

  • DETAIL OF THE ISSUE
    • Corruption/ flashing squares are seen in a rectangle towards the bottom right corner of the screen.
    • Affected AMD Radeon Products: R9 280X, R9 280, R9 270, HD7970, HD7950, HD7990, HD7870.
    • Only happens when the game is run in DirectX 11 mode with MSAA enabled.
  • WORKAROUND
    • During gameplay, turn off MSAA as shown in the image below:

 

THE GAME MAY FAIL TO LAUNCH ON CERTAIN LAPTOP CONFIGURATIONS WITH SWITCHABLE GRAPHICS.

  • DETAIL OF THE ISSUE
    • The error message "Grand Theft Auto V exited unexpectedly" is displayed when the game is launched on laptops with switchable AMD graphics.
  • STATUS
    • AMD is working closely with Rockstar Games to investigate the issue.
