 How-To Uninstall AMD Catalyst™ Drivers From A Windows® Based System

This article provides instructions on how to uninstall AMD Catalyst™ Drivers from a Microsoft Windows® based system.

How to uninstall AMD Catalyst™ Drivers in a Windows® 8 based system

  1. Move the cursor to the bottom-left of the desktop or Metro UI, and a Start “Box” will appear
  2. Right-click to open a context menu, and select Control Panel from the list to open it


  3. Select Programs and Features
  4. Select AMD Catalyst Install Manager
  5. Click Change

     
  6. When prompted by the AMD Catalyst Install Manager – InstallShield Wizard, select Express Uninstall ALL ATI Software.

     
    NOTE! The Windows User Account Control (UAC) may ask, ‘Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?’ If it does – Click, Yes to continue with the uninstall process.
  7. Click, OK to allow the AMD Catalyst Install Manager – InstallShield Wizard to remove ALL AMD driver and application components.


  8. The uninstall will now happen.

     
  9. The AMD Catalyst Install Manager – InstallShield Wizard will prompt to uninstall itself. Click, Remove.

     
  10. Click, Finish.

     
  11. Click, Yes when prompted to restart the system and complete the uninstall process.

     
    NOTE! A system restart is required to complete the uninstall process.


To verify that the AMD Catalyst Drivers and all related software has been removed from the system, return to the Program and Features list, and check that no AMD entries are found.  If there are AMD specific entries still listed, remove them using the above process.

How to uninstall AMD Catalyst™ Drivers in a Windows® 7 based system

  1. Click on Start
  2. Open the Control Panel
  3. Select Programs and Features
  4. Select ATI Catalyst Install Manager
  5. Click on Change



  6. Click on Next when prompted for the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for ATI Catalyst™ Install Manager



  7. Select Express Uninstall All ATI Software
  8. Follow the on-screen directions and restart the system when finished



  9. NOTE! The Windows User Account Control (UAC) will prompt for Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?. Click on Yes to continue with the uninstall process





  10. To verify that the legacy graphics driver has been uninstalled, return to the Uninstall or Change a Program list and ensure that there is no ATI specific software listed
  11. If ATI specific software is still listed, remove any remaining ATI software components using the above process and restart the system when complete

How to uninstall AMD Catalyst™ Drivers in a Windows® Vista based system

  1. Click on Start
  2. Open the Control Panel
  3. Select Programs and Features
  4. Select ATI Catalyst Install Manager



     
  5. Click Change
  6. Choose Express Uninstall ALL ATI Software



  7. Follow the on-screen directions and restart the system when finished
  8. To verify that the legacy graphics driver has been uninstalled, return to the Uninstall or Change a Program list and ensure that there is no ATI specific software listed
  9. If ATI specific software is still listed, remove any remaining ATI software components using the above process and restart the system when complete

How to uninstall AMD Catalyst™ Drivers in a Windows® XP / Windows 2000 based system

  1. Click on Start
  2. Open the Control Panel
  3. Select Add or Remove Programs
  4. From the list of Currently installed programs, select ATI - Software Uninstall Utility



    1. If ATI-Software Uninstall Utility is not listed in Add/Remove Programs, first remove ATI Catalyst Control Center then remove the ATI Display Drivers
    2. Click 'No' when prompted to restart the system
    3. Empty the Windows Temp folder by going to C:\Windows\Temp\
  5. Restart the system
