Issue Description:
After installing an AMD Radeon™ HD graphics card and drives, there are no longer any sounds or audio coming from the on-board audio device.
Cause:
All AMD Radeon HD graphic cards have a built in audio chip. When the AMD Radeon HD graphics card was installed, the motherboard may have set this AMD Radeon HD audio chip to have a higher priority than the on-board audio, causing the operating system to configure the AMD Radeon HD audio chip as the default audio device.
Solution:
Reset the on-board audio device as the default audio device in the Windows® Sound properties
- For Windows Vista® and Windows® 7:
- Open the Control Panel
- Click on Sound
- Under the Playback tab, left-click on the “Speakers” icon
- Select “Set Default” for the onboard audio device

- For Windows® XP:
- Open the Control Panel
- Click on Sounds and Audio Devices
- Click on the “Audio” tab, under the Default Device
- Select the onboard audio device as the default device
