This article provides instructions on how to identify the model of an AMD graphics card, which is important to know in many situations ranging from troubleshooting a technical issue, locating the correct graphics card drivers or validating a warranty submission.
There are essentially three main methods to identifying an AMD graphics card in a Windows® based system:
- Physical inspection
- Using AMD Catalyst™ Control Center or AMD Vision Engine Control Center
- Using Windows Device Manager
Method One – Physical Inspection:
The model of the graphics card can be found in one of two places.
- It will be printed somewhere on the retail packaging of the card.
- The model number or at least the part number will be printed on the barcode sticker located on the back of the graphics card.
Method Two – Using AMD Catalyst Control Center or AMD Vision Engine Control Center:
Provided the drivers are correctly installed and functioning, the model of the graphics card can be found using the following the AMD Catalyst software:

- Open the AMD software by clicking on Start > All programs > AMD Catalyst/Vision Engine Control Center or right click anywhere on the desktop and select AMD Catalyst/Vision Engine Control Center.
- In the advanced view mode, click on the Information tab located on the left side of the window, then click software and the model of graphics card will be displayed under Graphics chipset.
Method Three – Using Windows Device Manager
The model of the graphics card can also be found using the Windows Device Manager.
Identifying an AMD product using Windows Device Manager
- Click on the Start button
- Type in devmgmt.msc in the Run commend or Device manager in the Search field
- Click OK or press Enter
- Click display adapter to expand
- The graphics card model number will be displayed
