Validation is AMD's highest award of quality. Validated products undergo extensive synthetic and real-world testing to help ensure a good customer experience. Validated products include components, and software that are critical for an optimal experience with AMD Eyefinity Technology. For the best assurance of quality, interoperability and a positive user experience, choose a Validated product.
Connectivity Requirements: AMD Eyefinity technology is supported by graphics cards in the ATI Radeon™ HD 5400 series and higher. These cards can support up to six monitors (depending on the model), subject to the following restrictions:
• A maximum of 2 legacy monitors (VGA, DVI or HDMI) can be enabled simultaneously, provided that each monitor is connected either directly or via a “passive” DisplayPort™ adapter/dongle. “Passive” adapters/dongles will NOT support more than 2 legacy monitors.
• To enable support for more than 2 monitors, “active” DisplayPort™ adapters/dongles are required (or monitors with direct DisplayPort™ connectivity must be used).
• Approved “active” adapters have no general connectivity restrictions with AMD Eyefinity technology.
For more information on supported adapter/dongle combinations specific to your board and panel, please refer the user documentation specific to each graphics card or this knowledge base article.
* Maximum Supported Resolution : this is the upper resolution that the dongles are tested to. Other circumstances such as a monitor's supported timings/resolutions as reported by a monitor's EDID may limit the supported resolution below this value.
SL-DVI Active adapters support a maximum resolution of 1920x1200 on displays that support Reduced Blanking Intervals. Displays that do not support Reduced Blanking Intervals may report a maximum resolution of 1600x1200. To determine if your display supports reduced blanking, please contact your display vendor.
