    4. HDTV (Component Video) Adapters from ATI - Details and Connection Methods
To connect a HDTV using a HDTV Video Component Video Adapter, do the following:

Prior to connecting Component Video, please ensure that appropriate display drivers supporting Component Video output have been installed into Windows with a standard monitor attached to the graphics card.
Current display drivers are available for download from the Drivers and Software section of our site.

    • Shut down Windows and turn off the power to the computer.
    • Turn ON the appropriate switches on the HDTV Video Component Video Adapter for all modes supported by the HDTV display. (e.g. if the display supports both 480p and 720p then both of these switches should be set to on as illustrated below):

    • Notes:  540p mode is not supported by current ATI products.
16:9 switch should be turned ON if the display supports widescreen mode.
    • Connect the Y (Green), Pb (Blue), and Pr (Red) connectors from the HDTV to the corresponding connectors on the Component Video Adapter.
    • Connect the graphics card end of the adapter to the corresponding connector on the graphics card.
    • Ensure that the HDTV is set for YPbPr input.  Please refer to the HDTV's manual for specific details on selecting the inputs.
    • Restart the system.

When the system restarts, there may be no display until Windows starts.  If the computer is doing any background tasks during boot (such as ScanDisk, etc.) then may be no visible display until these tasks are complete.

To re-enable support for a standard monitor, simply reboot the system with the monitor attached.

Note:  These connectors may be labeled differently on some Component Video displays.
