What are the AMD Catalyst Application Profiles and how do I get them to work?

The AMD Catalyst Application Profiles are driver updates designed to fix and enhance games for AMD Radeon graphics cards. Once they are installed, the fixes and enhancements are automatically enabled for the game titles to which they are applied. Since AMD Catalyst Application Profiles are driver profile updates and are not user profiles, they will not be visible under the AMD Catalyst Control Gaming settings.

Why is my monitor's native resolution not listed in the AMD Catalyst Control Center?

Please refer to the following knowledge base article:

GPU-10: Inability to Select a Specific Resolution for a Display Device in AMD Catalyst™ Control Center

Why do changes not take effect when selecting and applying a display resolution in the AMD CatalystControl Center?

Two potential causes:

What is AMD Switchable Graphics Technology and how do I utilize it?

AMD Switchable Graphics Technology is a technology that enables switching between discrete high-powered graphics and the integrated onboard graphics. Using this technology, AMD Radeon discrete graphics can be used when the laptop is plugged into the power outlet for maximum performance. This can also be disabled in the AMD Catalyst Control Center  under the Switchable Graphics Settings if desired. When the laptop is unplugged from the power outlet, it automatically switches to the integrated graphics for longer battery life. In order to switch back to the discrete graphics, the laptop must be plugged back into the power outlet.

How do I configure the AMD Catalyst Control Center for optimal performance for a specific game?

The settings in the AMD Catalyst Control Center  should be left at their default values (recommended for the majority of applications).

Most modern games utilize an auto-detect feature that analyzes the graphics hardware and optimizes in-game settings on the fly. Experimenting with settings may result in better results, but please be aware that making changes to the setting may also affect how other games perform.

What are the optimal over-clocking settings for game play using AMD OverDrive™?

Although there is an AMD OverDrive™ option in the AMD Catalyst Control Center, AMD does not provide support or assistance with regardsto changes to the default settings. There are various how-to guides available on the web that are not endorsed by AMD; however, please note that over-clocking will void the warranty.

Why is the AMD CrossFire option not available after setting up two AMD CrossFire compatible AMD graphics cards?

An AMD CrossFireset up requires a Certified Motherboard, Certified Power Supply and Certified Graphics Cards. If all of the requirements have been met and the AMD CrossFire option in the AMD Catalyst Control Center is still not available, please follow these steps:

Why is the AMD OverDrive feature missing in the AMD Catalyst Control Center?

Ensure that all PCIe® power connections have been connected to the graphics card and that the Power Supply Unit (PSU) meets the recommended requirements (please watch this video for more information:  How to Troubleshoot Potential Power Supply Issues).

Uninstall and reinstall the AMD Catalyst software suite. Please refer to the following knowledge base articles for uninstall and reinstall instructions.

What is the difference between the AMD Catalyst Control Center and the AMD Vision Engine Control Center?

The AMD Catalyst Control Center works with systems consisting of an Intel CPU and AMD Graphics.
The AMD Vision Engine Control Centre is optimized for systems containing an AMD CPU and AMD Graphics.

The AMD Vision Control Center offers additional CPU monitoring options from within the Control Center. All graphics features available in the AMD Catalyst Control Center are also available in the AMD Vision Control Center.

Why does the CCC not launch after clicking on its desktop icon?

This may be caused by an incorrect driver installation:

Uninstall and reinstall the AMD Catalyst software. Please refer to the following knowledge base articles for uninstall and reinstall instructions:

Additionally, clearing out the appropriate assemblies in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) area in the Windows assembly directory may fix the problem.

  1. Uninstall the AMD Catalyst software using the AMD Catalyst Install Manager, located in Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Reboot the system when prompted and enter Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key repeatedly during boot up.
  3. Browse directly to "C:\Windows \assembly".
  4. Sort the entries by "Public Key Token", and then delete every entrywith"90ba9c70f846762e"as the Public Key Token.  Note: Administrator privileges are required, and this must be done in Safe Mode.
  5. Restart the system and reinstall the AMD Catalyst software suite.

How do I fix the “CCC host application has stopped responding“ or the  “CCC command line interface” error message?

A thorough uninstall and reinstall of the AMD Catalyst software, combined with using third party driver-removal software, may be helpful in cleaning out any remaining AMD graphics driver entries, and will often resolve this issue. Note: Third-party utilities are not supported by AMD and any use thereof is subject to your agreement with the vendor of such third party software.

  1. Remove all AMD software using the AMD Catalyst Install Manager (CIM) through Programs and Features located in the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Restart the system when prompted.
  3. Use the third party cleaning software to remove any remaining AMD graphics driver entries.
  4. Restart the system when prompted.
  5. Reinstall the AMD Catalyst software suite

 How do I fix a CLI/MOM.Implementation error?

Please refer to the following knowledge base article:

How do I fix the “CCC is not supported by the driver version” error?

A mismatch between the AMD Catalyst Control Center version and the Display Driver version is the most probable cause.

Uninstall and reinstall the AMD Catalyst software suite. Please refer to the following knowledge base articles for uninstall and reinstall instructions.
