What is the difference between a retail boxed processor  (Processor In Box or PIB) and a bare processor (TRAY or OEM processor)?

Retail boxed processors are AMD processors that are sold in AMD branded packaging, and have a three year replacement warranty, along with an AMD recommended heat sink and fan.

Tray or OEM processors are sold in bulk and do not include a heat sink and fan.Tray and OEM processor warranties are provided by the retailer/place of purchase or an OEM manufacturer such as DELL, HP or Lenovo.

What is the fastest processor I can use in my system?

Please review the motherboard or system manual for a list of supported processor types and socket configurations.  Then review the matchingprocessor and specifications on the AMD Processor Solutions page.

What’s the difference between full height and half height graphics cards?

  • A half-height or low profile graphics card measures 6.44cm high
  • A full-height graphics card measure 10.67cm high

This height difference allows the half-height or low profile graphics card to be installed into smaller sized cases.

What do the graphics card model numbers mean?
