This article provides information on screen tearing when using AMD Eyefinity multi-display technology.

    Issue Description:

When using AMD Eyefinity technology with multiple displays employing dissimilar display interfaces (eg. A combination of DVI and DisplayPort™ connections), the user may observe screen tearing on one or two displays when moving a windowed application across the desktop, while watching a video, or when objects move across a scene in a game application.

    Possible causes:

The issue can be caused by, but is not limited to, one of the following conditions:

    • Display synchronization is currently not supported across dissimilar display interfaces.
    • Display synchronization is currently not supported across multiple displays with non-identical display timings.

    How to troubleshoot the issue:

The following troubleshooting tips can help identify and resolve the cause of the issue:

    • Screen tearing can be avoided by employing only DisplayPort connections in Eyefinity display groups.
    • Screen tearing can be avoided on a specific display by designating a ‘preferred display’ in an Eyefinity display group using AMD Catalyst™ Control Center (or AMD Vision Engine Control Center).
